The Chamta people are skillful carpenters and home builders. They live in Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan.
They are often employed as woodworkers, carpenters and construction workers. They lack adequate schools and hospitals.
The Champa people practice Hinduism, the ancient religion of India. Hinduism is a catch-all phrase for the local religions of South Asia, so it is very diverse. At the popular level, Hindus worship and serve the gods of the Hindu pantheon. They visit Hindu temples and offer prayers, food, flowers, and incense to their gods in hopes of gaining protection and benefits. They do not have a personal or familial relationship with their gods like Christians or Jews. There are other Hindus who are much more philosophical, especially among the Brahmins.
Almost all Hindus participate in yearly celebrations like Holi, the festival of colors and the start of spring / Diwali, the festival of lights / Navratri, the celebration of autumn / and Rama Navami, Rama’s birthday.
Though they are vulnerable to being politically marginalized, the Chamta people are uniting to protect their interests. They lobby state and federal governments to this end.
Pray for loving workers to go to the Chamta people until there are disciples who make more disciples.
Pray the Lord will prepare the hearts of the Chamta to understand and to believe the gospel.
Pray for the Lord to bless the Chamta people with adequate education and medical facilities.
Pray for the Lord to bless the Chamta people so abundantly that they will see he is the only one worthy of praise and worship.
